Today I am selling a unique Victorian 10k gold brooch. This rose gold bar pin has taille d'epargne black enamel on both ends and a gold section attached on top of it. The raised section has etched half circle terminals and a recessed diamond shaped plaque in the center. The recessed area is decorated with a fly that has applied silver wings and green gold leaves above and below the fly. It is not hallmarked but acid tests positive for 10 karat gold. The pin is a little loose but stays securely in the safety clasp, which is a later replacement.
CONDITION: Excellent for its age. Minor enamel damage, mostly on the right side (see photo #5). Light tarnish to the 10k gold on the edges and sides. As stated in the description above, the safety clasp is a later replacement with solder evident where it is attached.
CIRCA: Late Victorian era
MEASUREMENTS: 2 5/16 inches long and almost 3/4 of an inch at its tallest; weighs 4.95 grams
