An interesting early Sioux Indian, pouch sewn from thick hide, ca. 1800-1850.
The bag or pouch decorated with beads and strips of hide with beads etc. A rare early piece, likely made to carry firemaking tools(?).
Length: Nearly 26 cm. incl. the beaded decorative 'tail', 16 cm. for the bag alone.
Condition: Choice for type and age, some beads in decoration lost. Ex. Egeskov Fine Arts, Egil H. Lund collection, 1997.
