A wonderful and very scarce bronze bell, mid-European from the late Rennaissance-Early Baroque period, ca. 1550-1600 AD. The bell is finely decorated with angels, coat of arms and a half-length bust of Christ! Also note the two full figures on the top.
Very attractive with chestnut brown patina in solid bronze, still functioning with the original iron gong inside. Size: ca. 135 mm. high and 95 mm. wide. Likely used as a table bell of for ceremonial purposes. A very nice antique and conversation piece.
Condition: Choice, never harshly cleaned. Ex. Ib Olsen Collection and was approx $950 when purchased in the early 90s in an antique shop in Copenhagen.
