A very large and heavy ritual bronze axe, Dong Song Culture of the Red River Area, Time of the Han Empire, 200 BC-200 AD. Interestingly this was likely a ritual axe, since it's very large for it's type and with a fine V decoration in a section on the socket.
Size: 17 cm.! Very heavy.
Vietnam was finally overtaken by Chinese Han, and became the Annam region of the Empire in about 100 AD.
Condition: Choice, exceptional metal very sound and a fine mottled rough patina with cloth marks and earthern encrustations. Incredible antiquity that comes with our COA. Provenance: Large Danish private Collection.
