Rare large pottery bowl, dating to the Ghaznavid Dynasty, 11th.- 12th. century AD. Finely decorated bowl in green orange and black on a white ground. Pottery decorated with incised designs and splashed colored glazes like this was popular in most areas of the Islamic world. This bowl belongs to a group of ceramics usually described as Bamiyan and found in Afghanistan, there is no archaeological evidence that they were produced there. Usually these bowls are smaller but occationally larger ones like this were produced and they are rare.

Size: 245 mm. wide and 105 mm. deep.

Condition: Superb for type, completly intact with some wear to the glaze on the very rim.
