A very large and highly interesting Mesopotamian amulet of a cow, ca. jemdet Nasr 3200-3000 BC.
The amulet carved in one piece of shell, where the artist have preserved the outer layer of Mother of pearl. Very nicely done. The amulet is carved in the shape of a cow or bull with folded horns and incised circles on the surface. Two holes drilled for mounting it in antiquity.
Size: ca. 62 mm. long and 48 mm. high. Iridicent on both sides.
