Large Gothic renaissance European bronze tripod cauldron!
A rarer North-European bronze tripod cauldron, dating to the 17th.-16th. century. This cauldron is unusual, due to it's fine execution and larger size - 27 cm. from handle to handle and more than 16 cm. in height. The cauldron is standing on three legs with lower part shaped as stylized animal paws. An early example of North European / Danish kitchen ware from the renaissance and baroque period. There's not many surviving items in bronze from this period in European history. This particular cauldron was a part of the inventory of a large manor / castle collection. Condition: Choice, a leg was once replaced during the time of use, but othervise a perfect specimen. The replacement of legs for this type is very typical since these caudrons and tripods were heated and treated roughly in the household.
