This a wonderful childrens' book by Walter de la Mare. it was first published in 1942 by the John C. Winston Company. It is poignantly illustrated by Dorothy P. Lathrop.
There are seven full page colour illustrations and 11 black and white, most of which, are, also, full page.
This is an important book as it revolves around the brilliance of a little monkey and the bond that develops between the Bumps family and Jasper, as he is called. There is much understanding and respect for Jasper who is not treated like a possession as is the wont for the treatment of animals today. It is a book that children and many adults should read.
It has the original dust jacket which, as you can see, is not perfect. The bottom left hand corner is torn but would have the appearance of being near perfect if one were to apply a small amount of tape on the back. I do not do that. The top left hand corner is as shown, as is the right. The spine is somewhat scuffed but not badly. The inside pages are fine.
Thank you for looking.
