Russian Trade Beads, Alaska Fur Trade
A rather exhaustive investigation into these beads has produced responses from experts in the field of Russian trade beads. First of all they are genuine, not modern, not African, but were traded, most probably with the Mt. Shasta Indians anywhere from the late 1700's to the mid 1800's.
They are a deep cobalt blue, hand faceted and in excellent condition.. They are the Bohemian faceted beads, not from the African trade. The strand is about 26" long and there are 55 beads. The beads vary in length from 10mm to 15mm. The turquoise bead is a rare colour for these types of beads, the blues a rich blue and all are well preserved. Each bead is different from the others. They are strung on a piece of wool.
An excellent addition for the collector of American history.
