This authentically dressed Nun, probably dressed in France, is a German bisque head doll with a ball jointed body. Her head is marked only Germany with a 6 below. She has a very nice body with original finish. This habit is many layered and I was not brave enough to undo it all. She wears muslin pantaloons and a chemise with delicate lace at the neckline. I believe she has all the layers a real Nun's daily garb would include. Her white collar and head piece have darkened with time but are not damaged. The doll wears black sox and German oil cloth tie shoes. The head has open and closing blue eyes with painted lower lashes and lush real upper lashes. On either side of her head neck hole there are hairline cracks as photographed. I believe they were factory shrinkage lines since they both have white paint skip areas where paint and glaze did not adhere. They are both very stable. She also has her original chestnut curled mohair wig. The only outfit flaw is the top head scarf that is made of a black silk crepe. It is very fragile with some melting. All of the rest of her clothes, socks, and shoes are in very nice condition as far as any fabric damage. She has three Rosaries as well as an extra cross necklace on a black string. One of the crucifixes is marked France on the back. She could use new stringing but displays fine on a stand as she is.
