A superb and rare large English sterling tankard dated 1738. Made by London silversmiths Richard Gurney and Thomas Cook. Corresponding hallmarks on lid, handle, and underneath. Included is an appraisal of authenticity written in 1947. Excellent condition with a fine luster and only age appropriate minor dents. No repair or restoration. Measures 8”h x 4.9”w x 5.9”. Weighs about 30 ounces.
