Oil painting by James Kinnear(Scottish 1846-1917). The bucolic scene is the links of Barry, Scotland a village near Dundee. The original label on the reverse states that it is a morning scene. The label also indicates that the painting was an exhibit at the Royal Scottish Academy in 1878. The painting is signed lower left and dated 1878. Kinnear was from Edinburgh and is known to have exhibited at least 80 works at the Royal Scottish Academy and 18 works at the Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts. The painting is on canvas and has been laid down on a mahogany panel, has recently been professionally cleaned, and is housed in a fine frame of the same period as the painting. It is in excellent condition. The original signed and titled label makes this a piece with historical significance as well as a fine painting. Measures 18” x 30”unframed and 26” x 38”.
