A large Sag Harbor, New York scene oil painting entitled on reverse “At The HomePort” by Hjalmar Cappy Amundsen who also painted under the pseudonym JJ Enwright. The painting was done C. 1950. The company from whence the stretcher frame(ANCO) was made went out of business in 1953. Amundsen ran an Art School in Sag Harbor and was renown for his coastal paintings. His works, including paintings of the coastline between New York and Maine, are in great demand. He was honored with a retrospective at the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum in 2011. The provenance of this painting is Wallace Gallery in East Hampton, NY. The painting is in excellent condition and is signed in the lower left. It is colorful and has fine detail. It is housed in a fine contemporary custom gilted frame. The painting measures 24” x 36”unframed, and 30” x 43”framed.
