A luminous impressionist landscape by American artist Charles P. Appel( New York 1857-1928), painted in oil and on canvas C. 1910. Born in Brooklyn, Appel studied with William Merritt Chase And Francis Mora at the New York School of Art. His major influence, however, as reflected in his paintings, is George Inness. Most of his known works are impressing landscapes and seascapes. He lived mostly in East Orange, New Jersey and 1906 he became a member of the Salmagundi Club. His works are in several museums including the Montclair Art Museum in New Jersey. Numerous references to him are various publications pertaining to American Impressionism. And he is listed in all major art reference sources such as “Who Was Who In American Art”. His works have been sold at major auctions houses including Christie’s in New York.

The painting is in excellent condition with no damage or repair. It is housed in its original frame and stretcher, both of which are in very good condition. Signed lower left. Measures 13” x 18” unframed and 17.5” x 22.5” framed.
