C. 1780 American New England mahogany chest on chest with broken arch pediment mounted with brass finials. Attributed to the Connecticut River Valley. Very well proportioned, with a fine old dry surface, white pine secondary wood, and original straight bracket feet. A superb example of the form in excellent antique condition. Has minor age appropriate repairs, but is structurally sound, and retains an impressive state of originality. All the brasses are early period and many are original. Measures 85”high x 41.5”wide x 21”deep.
