An elaborately carved mahogany British Chippendale period armchair c. 1770. Seat recently recovered. Excellent example of the high form with carved crest, stop fluted legs and back, and beveled four sided stretchers. Multiple repairs over a long period of time but structurally sound, original, and free from breaks. Older mellow finish. An excellent choice for a desk chair. Measures 37”(high) x 23”(front seat width).
