A southern yellow pine C. 1750 six board blanket chest found in Virginia. Of the “bootjack” form the chest has a very early possibly original surface, and is in excellent condition. The lid is held on with hand wrought cotter pin hinges, and the replaced lock is circa 1830. C. 1830 nails have been added to the corners but many of the original nails are present. Very sturdy and functional, and with the til still intact. Measures 48”wide x 24”high x 16.5”deep.
