C. 1730 George II walnut slant front desk. Very scarce diminutive size and a wonderful old fade and color depth to the figured walnut veneers. Has the very early features of crossbanding, inner well with slide, applied waist band and book support. Graduated drawers that function well. Dovetail construction. Secret drawers and compartments. In remarkably good condition in spite of numerous small repairs done over a long period of time. Hinges are replaced but lid is original. All hardware is very old and design appropriate, and some of it is original to the piece. Measures 39’high x 33’wide x 18.75”deep.
