A quart sized aqua fruit made only between 1859 and 1861. The jar is unembossed; however, the lid is embossed "PATENTED OCT.19.1858". The ground lip top is augmented by slanted ramps that engage the three inside lugs on the glass screw closure. The jar was patented by Thomas R. Hartell from Philadelphia and made by the Union Glass Works in Philadelphia. The jar is in very good condition with only the expected nicks around the ground lip and outside of the jar. Measures 7.5"high.
