A large pine English settle bench, c. 1780. A very early bench as evidenced by the shoe feet, mortise/tenon joining, wooden peg pins, and recessed paneling. The arms are thick, nicely turned, and dovetailed into the back. Has a flip seat for inner storage. The bench is very good, sturdy, stable and usable condition. The hinges to the seat have been replaced and one half of one of the shoe feet is replaced. Was apparently painted at one time. Measures 59.25"high X 52.5"wide X 18.5"deep.
