A fine sterling silver ladle made by Robert Ross in London in 1775. Ross was primarily a spoon maker in London and was active from 1773-1778. This large ladle is beautifully constructed with a thin, arching feather edge handle that terminates with the family crest emblem. But perhaps the best feature is the shell bowl with the ribs radiating outward. The hallmarks on the reverse of the handle are clear and legible. Excellent overall condition with no damage or repair. Measures 14"long and has a bowl width of 3.5". Weighs 6 ounces.
