Large and beautiful c. 1965 oil on canvas by Irene Borg, born in California, signed lower left. She studied at the Pasadena Museum as a teenager and later the School of the Arts, formerly the Chuniard Art School. Afterwards, still early in her career, she studied under Joseph Mendez and Sergei Bongardt. Many prints have been made of her paintings and sold worldwide. This painting--a mother and crying child in a gazebo--typifies her color mastery in an Impressionistic scene. The provenance of the painting is the estate of Charles Marqusee of Boca Raton, Florida. Actually he is known as the founder of Boca Raton, having lived there and contributed to many philanthropic causes. Marqusee built Boca West, the hospital, and donated the land for the first post office. In its original very fine frame. The painting is in excellent original condition with no damage or repair. Measures 36" X 36"unframed and 46" X 46".
