A fine pair of French Louis XVI period encognoires c. 1785. Made of mahogany with kingwood panels and mixed wood inlays elaborately done. Secondary wood is oak and pine. Both cabinets retain the original marble and ormolu mounts. Interior shelving in both cabinets. A popular form in 18th century France. These cabinets are well designed and executed and in overall excellent condition. The well cared for finished makes them ready to place in a home. Rarely are original marbles found on these pieces and, although a bit rough around the back edges, it makes the cabinets complete. They measure 25"wide X 33.5"high X 16.25"deep.
