An impressionist rendering of Haitians having a picnic. A very colorful scene with bold brush strokes, signed Gunter 67'. The painting is shown in shade, indirect sunlight, and direct sunlight. It is not known with any degree of certainty who the artist is but it is possible that it is Frank Elliott Gunter, an Indiana artist born in 1934. He traveled the world painting both genre scenes and landscapes. The scene is reminiscent of the work of Southern artist Clementine Hunter. The painting is excellent original condition and is in its original fine gilded, painted, and matted frame. It measures 12" x 22" (unframed) and 17.5" x 27.5" (framed).
