A superb and rare Baltimore or Philadelphia classical period pedestal worktable c.1820. Made of mahogany and figured mahogany veneer with secondary woods of white pine, poplar, and cherry. The worktable is all original and in excellent condition with only a minor top separation as a flaw. It would be a worthy piece to anyone's collection of Americana. Even the glass/brass pulls are original, as is the interior lining of the astragal end compartments. The piece has a slide out baize writing surface and a shallow drawer with a removeable compartment apparatus and a secret compartment underneath it. Fine workmanship throughout. Measures 30.5" high x 24.5"wide x 12"deep.
