A hand blown Aqua quart size jar embossed "Dexter" within a wreath of fruits. It has the closure with glass lid embossed "Patented Dexter Improved Aug. 8, 1865", which is the correct lid for the Dexter Improved jar. The jar is in excellent condition with only the expected ground lip roughness and slight thread roughness as part of the manufacturing process. The lid is flawless. The jar is shimmery and filled with small bubbles. The jar was patented by William T. Gill and Edwin Bennett of Philadelphia. A comparable quart jar was sold on an Internet site for $192. In 2005.
