An autumn landscape painting in oil and on panel by Old Lyme School artist Carlton Wiggins. Born in New York City in 1848 and died in Old Lyme, Ct. In 1932. He studied at the National Academy of Design and was a pupil of George Inness. Wiggins won many prizes for his numerous exhibits and his works hang in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, and others. His specialty was landscapes with cattle. The painting is in excellent condition. It has been professionally cleaned and is in a contemporary frame. It has very vibrant colors and is signed in the lower left. It measures 13" x 16"(unframed) and 19" x 22"(framed).
