A gem of a New England fall landscape painted on canvas board by John William Bentley(1880-1951), born in Patterson, NJ. And grew up in Woodstock, NY. He was a founding member of the Woodstock Art Colony and studied under Bridgeman, Dumond, and Henri. He painted landscapes, rivers, and farms and lived for a time in California where he painted on the Monterey Penninsula and at the Mission Capistrano.He is listed in all major art references including Who Was Who in American Art. He exhibited frequently and his work is represented in several museums and institutions. The painting is in excellent condition, is unframed, and is signed in the lower left. The colors are very vivid. It measures 9" x 12".
