This piece was embroidered by Sarah Radcliffe around the time of the American Revolution c.1776 when she was a school girl. The provenance is taped to the back of the 19th century oval frame it is now in. It was done on silk and, aside from minor discoloration around the outer edge , is in great condition and still retains its vivid hues. The age of the oval gilt wood frame is estimated c. 1810. This fine piece measures just over 14" high and just over 12" wide.
