Fine landscape by Birmingham, England artist William Henry Mander. The scene is the LLedr Valley in Northern Wales, an area Mander painted many times with great success. He experimented in painting in different stlyes and color combinations. His mentor was the British artist Benjamin Williams Leader whose work greatly influenced him. Mander was a very prolific painter and his works have been sold at major auction houses such as Christi's of London,Bonham's, and Samuel Freeman. After living for a time in Sheffield he eventually moved back to Birmingham. The frame is an old adaptation to the painting that blends nicely. The painting measures 18" x 26"(unframed) and 24.5" x 31"(framed) and is signed W H Mander in the lower right.
