A fine example of a French child’s sewing accessory in the form of a highly decorative purse.
The exterior is of extremely fine leather with the tiniest of tooled cross hatching decoration and is embellished with ornate metal banding around the outer edge. Four small, rose embossed metal medallions finished with brass/gilt mounts surround a central floral adornment to the centre. The purse has a highly decorative, fancy scrolled metal clasp also of brass/gilt metal. The original handle of silk cord with a tassel to each end is still in place.
When opened this darling necessaire has a three sectioned concertina interior of deep rose silk which is still bright in colour. The inside of the front panel displays various size ‘tabs’ to hold delicate tools of couture, one tool shown of bone and metal remains in place as it has been fixed with some glue of which I am hesitant to remove.
In great condition for its age, as you can clearly see from the photographs it has hardly been used…. Would make a fantastic accessory for your favoured doll or addition to your sewing accessories collection.
Measures approximately 4” to the widest point, 2 ¾ “ in height and 1” at the deepest point.
