A classic book telling the story of a doll depicted as the `young lady of the house' in various adventures and scenarios. This first edition of the French children's book is very sought after by serious collectors of dolls and children's literature alike.
Printed by Roche and edited by Arnauld De Cresse, 55 Rue de Rivoli, France, circa 1850/1860.
A delightful book complete with all text pages and 16 individual lithographed plates, some of which have been hand coloured either partially or fully. Inscribed to the inside cover in handwritten ink `Sallie Whiting Paris Dec 20th 1865 Hotel Windsor' and then again in two pages following `Sallie Whiting Paris Rue de Rivoli 20 December 1965'.
Although the cover and slip page show considerable wear, the interior pages are in very good condition. Could require some assistance in stabilising the binding as original string binding is loose.
