This souvenir of the late 1800's is very unusual in that it is both a faux pocket/fob watch and a purse.
Made in France, it displays to one side a colour image of Notre-Dame cathedral in the `verre églomisé' style of decoration and to the other it is a faux watch face. What is truly surprising is that it's hinged case opens to reveal a delicate, red fabric compartmentalized purse.
The watch/purse is suspended on a gilt metal, curb link chain with what appears to be a genuine watch key attached.
In good original condition, one of the hands on the watch appears to be shorter, I would assume this is original to the watch as I can see no evidence of it ever having broken and later removed or interfered with in any way. Watch measures approximately 1 ¼" in diameter, watch chain 11 ¾" in length.
