This stool was hand carved from one piece of mango wood. It was brought to the US from Cameroon Africa in the 1960s.
The finish is smooth from years of hands caressing it. The color of the mango wood looks like a mixture of walnut and cherry wood with slight hints of beech. A beautiful wood. Note on the underside was carved with what looks like a pointed cone.
This is extremely sturdy as well as heavy at 29 lbs. Perfect for use as a seat or a stool to put in front of a chair. The top has a slight concave curve but with glass on top would make a fabulous side table.
It measures 23"L x 19.5"W. The front side height measures 18.5". The back side height measures 20".
There is normal wear to the aged wood as well as some non-disturbing water marks on the seat itself. All part of the charm.
