Needle case Napoleonic Prisoner of War Straw Work circa 1800 - 8. 3/4"
A very good straw work needle or bodkin case dating to circa 1800 and of the type usually assigned to French prisoners of war held in British prisons during the Napoleonic wars. Made of straw it features an intricate floral pattern finished with different coloured varnishes.
Size: 8. 3/4" long x 1. 1/2" wide x 3/4" deep approximately.
Condition: Very Good - some minor areas of loss and slight lifting as is common for items of this type of construction and age. Please see all photographs and as ever I am happy to send more and answer any questions you may have.
