Victorian money box lithograph decorated with bird and butterfly print.
A nice Victorian double slot money box. Made of black painted wood it has a lid decorated with a charming coloured lithograph print of a small bird squawking at a butterfly, the whole in the Aesthetic manner of the 1880's and similar to black painted Mauchline ware. There is a slot at each end for coins to be inserted and a corresponding leather flap on the inside to stop them being easily removed. The front has a key hole with metal escutcheon and the coin slots have similar metal mounts. There is a slot for a wood divider in the middle of the box but this is missing as is the key. Would make a nice trinket box though or simply for display in a collection of boxes. Please see my other boxes for sale.
Size: 5. 7/8" long x 3. 1/2" deep x 2. 3/4" tall. Pleases see all photos and as ever I am happy to send more if requested and answer any questions.
