Antique French terracotta Madeleine cake mould tray Nineteenth century.
A fabulous and very scarce nineteenth century Madeleine tray. Made of terracotta this tray would have been used to bake the little sweet cakes called Madeleine's that originated in the Lorraine region of Northern France in the eighteenth century. Of a wonderful burnt orange colour and with a variety of different shaped moulds this really is a scarce piece of kitchenalia, trays for baking these cakes most often being found made of tin or tinned steel. Being sold as a decorative antique and If your interest is in Kitchen antiques, ceramics or French rural objects this would be a standout addition to any collection.
Size: 15. 3/4" wide (top of handle to bottom of tray) x 8. 1/2" deep x 1. 1/4" high. Weight: 58.5 oz or 1660 g. (Please note this is a heavy item and that all items are sent very packed).
