Childs Pearlware Staffordshire plate 'Marriage Dress - Illyrians' circa 1840
A very good childs pottery plate made in Staffordshire circa 1840. The plate features a green print over painted with washes of colour and is one of a series depicting national dress, this one representing Illyrians ( a group of people from Central Europe). Their is a border to the plate of impressed daisy's and a hand painted outline to the edge in red. The print, and others in the series, is illustrated on page 303 of 'Gifts for good children' by Noel Riley, published by Richard Dennis.
Size: 6" diameter approximately.
Condition: Very good - slight age associated marks as to be expected but I see no chips, cracks or restoration. Please see all photographs and as ever I am happy to send more and answer any questions you may have.
