Chinese Ginger or Storage Jar and Cover - 18th Century Blue & White
A very good Chinese ceramic storage jar (commonly referred to as a ginger jar) of provincial manufacture and complete with its original cover. Decorated with a scene of a fisherman by the side of a lake with a couple of low houses to the side and hills in the background, all in a strong deep blue palette with a very pale blue glaze. Dating to the eighteenth century or possibly earlier, Condition = Excellent, various small flaws to the glaze caused in firing and a slight glazed over chip to the cover, please see all photographs and as ever I am happy to answer any questions you may have or send additional pictures.
Size = 6. 3/4" high (with cover) x 5. 1/2" diameter to the base, lid = 3. 1/2" diameter x 1" high (all measurements approximate) Weight = 2lb 10oz or 1.180 Kg (a substantial pot that will be sent well packed)
