Japanese vintage Imari Ware or Arita Porcelain in a set of chopstick rest decorated in the old Kakiemon style. The porcelain is very fine, the hand painted decoration exquisite. Kakiemon decoration had many different characteristics, most often it includes some form or another of colorful chrysanthemum and their branches, often in an abstract manner. The pieces are always decorated in the famous iroe overglaze. This set dates to the late 20th century, and are about 30-40 years old. They are in very good condition with no cracks or chips. There is some minor age wear to the bottom. Kakiemon are still handmade until this day, as with all late 20th century porcelains there are part of the process that are manufactured, even the porcelain that is stamp molded is run on a potter's wheel first then trimmed, and are hand drawn and painted, and in the kiln twice. See the links we added to our Facebook and Pinterest page with the steps of the making of Kakiemon. They are not signed so I do not believe they are made by the current Kakiemon kilns. They would make any table setting gorgeous and could be used for other small condiments.
