A Japanese vintage Kyoto Ware pottery is made by Michio Yasuda 道夫安田.
This beautiful ovoid style vase is handmade and hand formed. It is then glazed in beautiful wine glaze with a royal blue glaze blended down. The pottery is traditional Kyoto ware and there is more discussed on the artist site. The top has a smaller style opening. As most items of pottery in Kyoto most likely it was designed for the tea ceremony use in Japan. It was made about 30 years ago. It is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. It is signed on the bottom by the potter.
SIZE: Diameter 6.7" or 17 cm, Height 5.9"or 15 cm
Famous Contemporary Potter
Michio Yasuda 道夫安田was born in 1949- and still living in what history we could find. In 1973 he became independent and borrowed the Noborigama-kiln at Gojozaka in Kyoto. in 1988 he built a new Noborigama-kiln at Shiga-cho in Shiga-prefecture. During and since that time he has displayed and shown his work in many places and exhibitions. According to the gentleman I bought this from the bottom of the vase appeared to be signed 橘吉 Tachikichi of 平安橘吉 or Tachikichi Heian, which could mean this Kyoto artist family.
The Tachikichi Store name was developed to encompass the works of Michio Yasuda the potter in addition to works of several other artists of all types, whose very nice works are seen on his page. A picture of the artist in his studio is added as the last picture here with his vase, I have placed a link to his site and store under our Favorites Links on our Home Page. There are some very nice items in his store and site in addition to this history of his potter career
