Originally a US estate auction sale piece, this is a well used Satsuma dark blue porcelain round box; highlighted in cream and rose colored flowers on the lid and gold flowers around the sides, gold gilt to top and finial. It is hand signed on the bottom, by the well known Bizan gama under the Shimazu family crest. This ages to the Taisho period 1912-1926 or possibly slightly later. Very pretty delicate and dainty round Satsuma box of near to or antique age. I went to measure it, and found since yesterday it has a new chip, my helpful darling staff rearranging. Please see the pictures. The gold finial could easily be retouched to change the look of the entire piece, but I don't do that. It does have some chips on the bottom and between the lid and bottom as well. Otherwise normal age wear to paint and some minor crazing on this precious little Satsuma box by the Bizan gama. The digital zoom feature always brings out these things and makes them look worse than they are in person and to the naked eye. A very beautiful piece.
