This Japanese vintage Hanakago or bamboo basket vase is an old one. Hanakago is most often made for decoration in the Japanese tea ceremony but of course used for many other places and around the home in the beautiful Japanese country of many flowers. The woven bamboo basket is coated with layers of half-transparent brown lacquer. The inside tray or actual vase is also made of natural bamboo. It is a very beautiful color and a very nice weave. This Hanakago is older than our other ones, it is about 80 years old, made by a craftsman. It is in good condition for its age. It does have some areas of wear as can be seen in the pictures. It is actually very beautiful, we have it out right now on one of our tables. It does hold water well and is in very good condition.
