A gorgeous Noritake vintage porcelain basket dish with a weaved handle. This is beautiful porcelain in general, with the artist rendition of a persimmon or kaki 柿 and the tree, almost looks like an oil painting, with subtly painted underglaze designs in the basket, overglaze on the handle and feet. It is handmade and hand painted. A piece most likely designed for export. It is marked on the bottom with the Noritake sign. This piece is a purchase from a Japanese gentleman who lives in Oregon. His grandparents owned an antique store and during WWII were interned in camps in the US, and all of their items were locked up in storage. The items were subsequently taken out of storage a few years ago. Therefore, as far as age we only know that it was pre 1940's, most likely between 1920 and that time. It is in pristine condition with no cracks or chips and a very lovely piece. We have updated the pictures to show the true color of the piece, as it is not yellow as it may seem. The crazing is part of how it is made an in the glaze.
