This Japanese Vintage Banko Pottery Teapot Rare Turban Shell is about 30 years old and was a purchase from Japan as most of our items are. It is made in the old Banko fashion of Japanese and export ceramics. I am not sure if it is actually Banko or Kyoto pottery, based on the signed mark on top we will get some help and find out. It is handmade and made very well into a strong, well-built teapot. The form of the turban shell are very realistic and the added decor including the finial of a sea creature is nice. It is hand dipped and glazed then painted in the small areas. The glaze is fine with a very nice coloring. It is in excellent condition, no cracks or chips please see the pictures. A very lovely Japanese teapot with fine relief and thick glazes.
