This Japanese vintage Bronze and Copper Alloy ware tall vase is decorated with the relief work of a hyotan or gourd and a snail. This is a nice aged tall copper vase with beautiful dark patina. It is made in the fashion of tsurukubi-hanaire or a long- crane like neck vase. The entire vase is cast in a ribbed fashion from top to bottom. In relief, a gourd or 'hyotan' vine wraps around the vase down to the snail on the ground. It is a nice example of a tall copper vase dating to the early 20th century Showa period. It is in very good condition with no cracks, chips, or missing pieces. It holds water well and does not leak.
