This Chinese vintage hexagonal flower pot is decorated in a lovely manner on a nicely shaped body. It appears to be made as a flower pot, as one can see from the coin motif opening on the bottom. However because of its width or diameter, there is room to put another container inside of it with a frog for the flowers so the literal use of the flower pot could be modified and the piece remains in its lovely condition. The flower pot is handmade in hexagonal cylindrical form. It widens at the mouth with a small rolled rim. At each bend of the hexagon a square foot bends with it. A wide painted glazed border separates each section of the hexagon, with the border being connected to the top and bottom rims and feet, all in a beautiful cobalt blue. Within each panel is an unusual hand painted decoration in abstract patterns of thin lines representing a weeping willow or maybe wisteria, a panel of sparrows, a panel of waterfall with home on cliff, and a panel of a single stem flower. A really interesting and beautiful piece, It was a purchase from Japan, and the antique dealer thought it to be about 30 years old which is appropriate in our opinion. Two different artist marks are inscribed or incised on the bottom. Most likely, one is the artist name and one the kiln name, but will need to see if we can get some help from a Chinese language reader. This piece is in excellent condition, no cracks or chips.
