This Japanese or Chinese Vintage Blue and White Porcelain Shokudai or Candle Stand is absolutely gorgeous. According to the seller it is Seto ware from Japan. I could be totally wrong but I think it is also possible it is Chinese, based on the color of the blue and the style of the decorations which are very pretty but also unusual although it might just be unusual Seto yaki! It is divided into three separately formed pieces. The top and center are scalloped in a hexagonal shape. The center has a rim that cups up. The bottom has four windows looking into the bottom section which has its own bottom and looks somewhat like a small temple room with windows. The entire piece is decorated in underglaze blue with many different arabesques and other style designs that I am not really familiar with. and they do look Chinese. I have contacted the seller about the source of their information. It is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips and looks to be about 20 years old.
