This authentic Chinese vintage lacquered Arabesque Art case is made of and called sculptured Guri. It looks exactly like the wood ones, although it sinks in water so cannot be identified as wood. It is a gorgeous piece, of unknown material and unknown age, probably about 40-50 years old. It does look very much like the wood boxes that are so popular now. If resin, it will be sturdy for a long time. Resin can make very nice and attractive pieces. This one is made very well, and a nice piece. It is in the style of a kogo box like is used in Japan for incense balls at the tea ceremony, but we can only assume it has not been used for this as it has no inside scent, so would be great for storing jewelry or just about anything special.
In very good condition, no cracks or chips. It has a little dirt between the cracks of age and use and stain or discoloration in one spot. Please see the pictures and ask any questions.
