This Japanese antique rare Edo Imari porcelain rokkakuzara plate is decorated with 'tojin-mon', or Chinese or Korean figures. It is a most amazingly decorated dish, front and back. The fuku character of longevity is the focal point in the center and around the wide beveled rim. Dating to the early 1800's, it is all handmade and hand decorated in underglaze and overglaze enamels on both the front and back. The hexagon or 'Rokkakuzara ' shaoe works perfectly with these hand painted designs that are outlined on each fold. This came to use from a Japanese lady who lives here in the U.S. and always has the most wonderful pieces and willing to share her information with us. There is a kiln flaw that can be seen in the first picture a a 5mm square on the bottom left kanji of missing glaze. This adds beauty to the piece and it is a very fine collector's item. It i a rare overall design.
Otherwise, it is in excellent condition, no cracks or chips most likely with some age related surface wear. Please see the pictures and ask any questions.
